Trevor Pinch, Professor of Science & Technology Studies and Sociology at Cornell University, will give a seminar with the title ”Sociology of Technology Revisited: Erving Goffman and Materiality”.

Trevor Pinch is a world leading sociologist of science and technology. He is one of the co-authors of the book ”The Social Construction of Technological Systems: New Directions in the Sociology and History of Technology” (1987), which became a start of the Social Construction of Technology (SCOT) approach. He has published many books and articles both in the sociology of science and on musical technologies. His latest book (coedited with Richard Swedberg) is ”Living in a Material World. Economic Sociology meets Science and Technology Studies”.
During May 2010 he will be a guest researcher at the The Office for History of Science at the University of Uppsala.
